at a glance

aldeia campista was originally an acquired farm property of the baron joão batista viana drummond, who gained it from princess leopoldina. by the end of the 19th century the construction and operation of fabrica confiança in aldeia campista commenced, which was important clothing factory during the early 1900s.

this factory also necessitated the construction of homes for its workers, and is how the vila operaria, or the worker's village, was formed, which still stands with its original architecture preserved and intact to this day.

the neighborhood contains many houses and low buildings from the 1950s era, which stand in contrast to the high skyscrapers built in the 1980s, and the new buildings that continued to be erected until the 1990s. with the key arrival of the metrô, aldeia campista gained more relevancy and value in the city. arrow-back      arrow-forward
