at a glance

the creation of the tijuca national park - the main point of interest in the neighborhood, significantly aided the preservation and recuperation effort of what remains of the important, native forest.

more or less in the middle of the neighborhood is the afonso viseu praça, which is also an important bus transfer station, from there the cascatinha road climbs up the nearby hills, giving access to some nearby locations, like the cascatinha square, the mayrink chapel and the os esquilos restaurant, a little further south there's the açude road, the main access to the açude's museum and the community center vila marina.
