at a glance

By the turn of the century landowners from all over Rio were investing in the area. João Rego was granted permission to build several streets, which led to significant population growth. Many of these roads were named after family members, such as 'Leopoldina Rego' and 'Antonio Rego'.

several other influential and wealthy figures contributed to the development of industry, by investing in establishments like the slaughterhouse, which was opened in 1910.

In 1917 the region gained a train station which was officially named Pedro Ernesto. This denomination was futile however, as people simply chose to call it 'Olaria Station' out of fond habit. arrow-back      arrow-forward
