at a glance

often thought to be part of copacabana beach, leme beach (praia do leme) is in fact a geographical continuation of copacabana beach, but a separate stretch and neighborhood in it own right, and has a distinct beach life and culture.

located in rio's zona sul, between the avenida princesa isabel and the morro do leme, leme's beach is a quite beach mostly attended by local residents and families.

many kiosks, nearby restaurants, and a very peaceful atmosphere make of this stretch of sand a precious getaway from the very lively copacabana beach.

on the morro do leme, the hill on the left of the beach there is the caminho dos pescadores (fishermen's path) a short walkway on the side of the hill that is used by local recreational fishermen and offers beautiful views of copacabana, the islands, and the hills.        arrow-back      arrow-forward
