at a glance

The community is divided into sub-sections: Sossego, meaning 'Quiet'; Favelinha, meaning 'Little Favela'; and Renascer, meaning 'Rebirth'. Today, it has a soccer field and the only two kindergartens that exist in Jardim América.

Proletário do Dique has very little infrastructure, such as basic running water and electricity, and only some of the streets are paved. Residents recall that until recently they continually lacked clean water for drinking and washing.

Several projects are currently in motion, which aim to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of Proletário and other nearby communities by reinforcing and improving infrastructure, transportation and education.arrow-back     arrow-forward
