at the time of its inception in 1983, salad was mainly conceived of as a bland combination of lettuce and tomatoes, but the owners have tirelessly and successfully worked to reform popular perceptions - at their establishments customers are able to build their own salad from an assortment of ingredients, including vegetables, meats, fish, nuts and grains. 

offering a great selection of gourmet salads, is the italian restaurant and pizzaria, alessandro e frederico, with locations in leblon, săo conrado, and barra da tijuca - there is also a café located in ipanema.  patrons have deletectable salad options that include squid, shrimp, tuna steak, quinoa, and couscous.
