since 1949 Israel and Brazil have established diplomatic relations - in 1950 the vice president of Brazil went to Israel representing Brazil for the first high-level political meeting, and in 1955 the Israeli embassy opened in rio de janeiro.

Brazil has worked with the united nations on many decisions involving the international politics of israel - along with many other nations Brazil is supportive of peace, democracy and security on a global scale, and has had opportunities to mediate conflicts involving Israel in the middle eastern region.
