the gorgeous cachoeira do chuveiro is located inside the parque nacional da tijuca (tijuca national park) in the vicinity of cachoeira do quebra and horto. from the park entrance at rua pacheco leão the picturesque ascent takes anyone with reasonable fitness no more than 30 minutes.

the roots of the acient trees lining the trail form natural stairways, which make it relatively easy to reach the waterfall at 380 meters above sea level - some climbing is required, but those who accept the challenge are rewarded with a most refreshing natural shower at the end. in fact, chuveiro is the portuguese word for shower.

this waterfall can get quite busy on weekend, the best time to visit is therefore during the week. because it is located inside the national park, it is subject to its opening time, which is between 8am and 5pm.
