one of the most popular leisure areas of ilha do governador, located at praia da rosa, is the governador yacht club.

it was founded in 1958 by a group of neighbors of estrada do dendê, who had summer houses in the area.

with the goal of creating a social club in the area, these neighbors decided to rent a house by praia da rosa and, as the years went by they built a landfill and a hangar for boats and small yachts.
