it is one of the few national flags in the world that do not use the colors red or black, normally associated with war, mourning, or blood. the old fort, from which the beach's name derives, still retains the ancient cannon, now disabled, that once used to guard the eastern shores of the island. the beach curves off the south where a very small yet scenic bay can be found, so too a number of charming sailing boats lazily bobbing up and down in the calm waters.
