along with praia brava and praia do alentejo, praia do golfinho (beach of the dolphin) is located inside a brazilian navy area, and access is possible only via special permit. this is a particularly beautiful beach, with pristine white sands and rich vegetation behind it. perhaps part of the reason why this beach is still pristine is the fact that, along with several other beaches on the island, it was declared a  military area as of 1946 - limiting general and random access.
