the copacabana fort is on the side of copacabana near ipanema, posto 6 - built in1776, this construction was meant for the defense of rio, that was capital of brazil at that time. nowadays the fort of copacabana is home to art galleries, a museum, a mirante, and two wonderful cafés, where to enjoy a view and step back in time - it is open tuesday through sunday, a small fee is charged at the entrance.
