Morro da Babilônia, or the 'Babylonian Mound', is ideally situated between two of the best known and most magnificent sights in Rio - copacabana Beach and Sugar Loaf mountain, providing exceptional views of copacabana, botafogo and urca, as well as guanabara bay and the Organ Mountains. Since 2001, as the product of environmental action, great work has been put into re-foresting the area so it is now also rich in fauna, forest and wildlife. The view is the jewel of the communities amongst which it is situated - Walking through these winding and colorful streets provides visitors with insight into the contrast between the wealth of those living on the seafront below and the relative poverty of those living higher up on the mounds. | arts | |||
