The project was conceived by Juliana de Carvalho, the founder of Bang Filmes e Produções. The book, published in 2014, is followed by a film documentary being published in 2015 that tells the story of Rio's founding, expansion and transformation over the years in video format - Both the book and the film are the result of extensive research and interviews with individuals deemed to be experts of Rio's cultural and societal history and development.
