While he first started photographing surfers in Rio, selling the photos to magazines and surf brands, he eventually bought waterproof housing equipment for his camera and started taking photos in direct contact with the water. It was this change of perspective that led to the inspiration to focus on the water itself and people's engagement with it. Taking two years to complete, Memórias da água features photos of not only the sea, but rivers and waterfalls, as well as industrial water structures such as protected reservoirs, dams and water treatment plants. The book also includes texts authored by Diogenes Moura, Elza Kawakami and David Zee - Published by Andrea Jakobsson Studio, the book is written in portuguese with parallel English translation by Chris Hieatt. | one day in rio | |||
