Documents such as photographs, diplomas and decorations are on display for public viewing, many being important works representatives of both Brazil as a whole and of many individual states. 

A fine choice for a cultural afternoon, the museum is open between 12h and 17h from Tuesday to Friday and between 13h and 17h on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, with schedule subject to change without notice.

Free guided tours are available when arranged in advance by calling the number (21) 2717-2903.  There is no entrance fee, and all guests are welcome to enjoy the culturally rich and unique version of Brazilian history that this building tells, with a special focus on Rio and niterói.
