the film is directed by ana maria magalhães, a well-known brazilian filmmaker and actress ('girl from ipanema' by leon hirszman, and 'das alter der erde' or  'the age of the e arth' by glauber rocha) and explores the trajectory of reidy's work during the period of modernism in architecture from the 1930s through to the 1960s.

it examines in particular reidy's concept of an urban utopia, that is, the idea that architecture has a social function and that the planning and design of our living spaces and cities are imperative to the well-being and growth of our society.  

considered to be one of the pioneers of modern architecture in brazil, reidy's designs of the housing perdregulho, which won the 1953 biennale - the museum of modern art and the aterro do flamengo in rio de janeiro are famed for their interactive and people-friendly nature and still are considered to be landmarks in rio de janeiro today.
