crowds gathered for the first time in 2011 as films aired around the city including cinemas in laurinda santos lobo and parque das ruinas. the event strives to inform the world about nuclear power and the risks of radioactivity although the festival maintains the stance that it is neither in favor nor against nuclear power. independent documentaries and movies are shown in a bid to educate audiences about not only the horror of nuclear energy misuse and the stories of those who have suffered, but how the energy is harnessed to power much of the world. arquivo amarelo (yellow archives) organizes the festival - it is a non-profit arts and culture foundation based in rio de janeiro and registered as a brazilian charity. the international uranium film festival maintains an official webpage here, with dates and programming. |
