surrounded by natural beauty, this community is now offering locally-organized tours, samba lessons, and naturewalks all the way to the top of the hill.  they also organize transportation to and from the visitor's accommodations, and lunches in homes and typical restaurants.           

in part due to the particularly steep hill, and perhaps due to the small size of the favela, there are only a few stores and public spaces here. there is only one school and the health clinic, bank, or post office are located in surroundng neighborhoods.

along with contractions and improvements being implemented by the city's administration, several pousadas are being built and structured to welcome tourists to chapéu mangueira.
