One of the requirements of participation is that meals showcased are 'carioca cooking from scratch', and are created and produced in the communities themselves.

The first event took place in November of 2014, and the second in September of 2015 - In the run up the Instituto Pereira Passos - IPP (Pareira Passos Institute) ran training courses for all participants and Sebrae offered consultations to businessman working in the gastronomic sector.

The event is part of the Projeto de Fortalecimento da Gastronomia em Comunidades de Baixo IDH (Project for the Strengthening of Gastronomy in Communities with Low HDI), aimed at sustainably developing the bar and restaurant market in favelas by improving business models, helping chefs refine their culinary offerings, and showcasing them to the wider city.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
