The creation of the Redes de Desenvolvimento da Maré, is the result of a long process of involvement of its founders with the community movement in the favelas of Maré as well as in the rest of the city - Actions and research were developed along a path marked by organizations in the fields of social policies, guided by the common interest of working in an integrated and comprehensive manner, with themes related to city ​​of Rio de Janeiro and, more specifically, to its communities in need.

Redes de Desenvolvimento da Maré was born with a mission - promoting the construction of a Territorial Development network through projects linking different social actors committed to the structural transformation of Maré, producing knowledge and actions against all forms of violence.
