rocinha has free wi-fi internet, 'radio rocinha' a local radio station, and even the museu da rocinha  (museum of rocinha)  dedicated to the history of the neighborhood and its struggle for development and integration.

this community is still facing some challenges, despite its privileged location and the attention of many organizations. there is a pressing need for improved access to health care for its residents and other social needs like appropriate housing, hygene, inconsistent energy distribution, difficult transport, low participation in education and high crime rates are being addressed.
