tabajaras and cabritos were occupied by the polícia pacificadora in 2010, finally freeing them from the control of the drug lords who controlled the communities for nearly 30 years.

the occupation of tabajaras and cabritos resulted in the immediate improvement of the safety of copacabana as a whole, since many of the muggers and robbers who would seek refuge in these favela could no longer operate near the beach.
