it is expected that the bope unit will soon be replaced by the upp (polícia pacificadora).

the first houses in the community date back to 1931.  at that time the area was a farm, after the owner's' death the workers occupied the land - the favela recieved the name of the road that leads to it.

home to just an estimated 2000 residents, this favela has greatly benefited from the increase in security, and many small shops and activities have flourished here.
