located just at the exit from the niterói
harbor, the macangué island as it is known today actually
results from the embankment of two smaller islands, known as
larger mocangué and smaller mocangué.
this was done in order to
offer a larger shoreline where to build the grand docks for
which the set is known today.
by the middle 19th century larger mocangé
belonged to josé joaquim teixeira.
