it is also one of the
larger islands in the chain, measuring 49 meters at its highest
point.
the seabed on the north side of the island (facing
ipanema) has large stones scattered underneath the surface,
causing the depth to vary between 3 and 15 meters

making it
the shallowest area in the archipelago.
on the south side there
are submerged rock slabs that only appear in rough seas or low
tide. the largest cove on the island, situated on the northwest
end, also has a submerged rock slab some 10 meters beneath the
surface.
