at a glance

ilhota pequena ('little islet,' relative to the other islets in the chain) is part of the cagarra archipelago, which is a group of uninhabited islands located directly south of ipanema beach in rio de janeiro.

the other members are ilhota grande, ilha cagarra, ilha das palmas, ilha comprida, ilhotas da cagarra and laje da cagarra.

its small stature (specifically, the smallest of the small) keeps it from receiving full island status, and it is one of the lesser-known cagarras because of this.

ilhota pequena is also known as matias, and sits directly between ilhota grande and ilhota cagarra.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
