given its proximity to ilha redonda and the cagarra islands, the diving here is also first-rate, as a plethora of marine animals are known to inhabit the area.

the arquipélago das cagarras is comprised of the  ilha cagarra, ilha das palmas, ilha comprida, ilha redonda, and the islets ilhotas da cagarra and ilhota redonda.

since april 2010, this group of islands has been declared a 'natural monument' named monumento natural das ilhas cagarras, or 'mona cagarras'.
