at a glance

following the arrival of the railroad, Cosmos grew significantly in the second half of the century, creating several residential areas which now house almost 70,000 people.
Although heavily urbanized it does contain a number of sizeable green spaces. The district is also home to a samba school, called Unidos de Cosmos, which was founded in 1948.

The railroad remains one of the most important access avenues to the region, however, the Avenida Cesário Melo, which was built much later and crosses the centre of the neighborhood, has also become an important facilitator to the flow of people and products to and from the bairro.

Several of the district's most important and popular establishments are concentrated around these major access routes. There are a number of eateries, like the Padaria Confeitaria Flor de Cosmos, or the 'Flower of Cosmos Bakery and Confectionary', and Sabor Tropical Pizzeria, or 'Tropical Flavor Pizzeria'. A few bars can also be found next to the train station. arrow-back      arrow-forward
