the fruit's seed, which is 85% of its total weight, is used in cosmetics, fibers, furniture, plywood and auto industry as well as for coffee roasting, baking, edible oil production and animal feed.    

furthermore, açaí is used to generate steam, as charcoal and as an organic fertilizer - the pulp is 15% of its total weight and is traditionally eaten and used for food products. 

açaí is considered by many an exotic delicacy and is gaining international fame - the açaí tree has other uses as well, its leaves are used to cover houses and for hats, and its wood is used for buildings.
