there are stories that by the 18th century, the cooks in minas gerais were already preparing cassava crackers, or biscoitos de polvilho, for their overseers.

the story of the most famous brand, biscoito globo,  began in 1953 when brothers milton, john and jaime ponce moved in with a cousin who owned a bakery in são paulo, after their parents separated.

the brothers learned to make cassava biscuits and sold them in the street then,  in 1954, during religious festivities in rio de janeiro, the brothers decided to sell the cookies to the crowd and they sold sensationally.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
