SBT is a television channel from Rio de Janeiro city, that operates in channel 11 VHF and 24 and 56 UHF. Owned by the now famous entrepreneur Silvio Santos, the channel can trace its origins back to 1976, when it started as TVS (TV Silvio Santos), but only after purchasing part of the concessions previously owned by TV Tupi did SBT become the media network it is nowadays.

Openly devoted to entertainment, the owner has multiple times stated that his channel would not let go of the lightness it is known for - In 2016, by occasion of Dilma's impeachment voting, Silvio made a point to forbid the transmission of the voting in the Chamber by SBT, reinforcing the light nature of the channel. Another opportunity for him was when Globo cancelled its morning cartoon shows and he stated that he would rather lose money than leave the children without an entertainment option in the mornings.
