Winners of both the male and female categories received a year of sports assistance and well as nutritionist advice, physiotherapy, training and sports equipment.

250 residents underwent training for the program with the Batalhão de Operações Especiais - Bope (Special Operations Battalion)- These trained participants have since been employed for the international gaming events that Rio has hosted.

The instituto XTERRA, responsible for the implementation of the program, sees sport as an important tool in the community pacification process, viewing Projeto de Braços Abertos (Open Arms Project)as an integral part of this process.
