built of masonry, the lighthouse stands 26 meters high, and combined with
the height of the island offers a view from 110 meters above sea
level.
originally bonfire-operated, an electrical system was
installed in 1883 and updated in 1909; the first radio
communication equipment was also put in that year and a foghorn
followed in 1913.
however, all of this technology cannot
counteract human error, and the area has seen its fair share of
shipwrecks.
