ilhota grande (also known as praça onze) is
essentially two rocks arranged in the shape of an hourglass,
situated directly northeast of ilha comprida.
the waters around the islet are known as a
'living aquarium' because of the abundance of colorful fish
found there.
however, while viewing them the strength of
the ocean must be acknowledged.
the small space between the islets causes the
large amounts of water being pushed through them to be under
immense pressure, making the currents quite forceful at times.
