divers should be aware of this and take care not to get pushed out to the external side of the islets; this has happened before and in one instance the hapless man was swept out into open water and drifted for two hours before being rescued.

in addition, navigating between the islets on the surface (i. e. by boat) can also be tricky. 

since april 2010, this group of islands has been declared a 'natural monument' named monumento natural das ilhas cagarras, or 'mona cagarras'.
