This study observes to the restoration of the Conjunto Habitacional Prefeito Mendes de Moraes, located in Benfica, Rio de Janeiro, and forms part of the seminar, 'Preservation of the Recent'. The material is a project of Affonso Eduardo Reidy, an exponent of modern architecture in Brazil.

Modern day intervention work is very challenging as it deals with groups of buildings where the original, complex conceptual architectural designs have suffered from high degrees of degradation and numerous different occupants.
