This study focuses on the Shrine of Our Lady of Penha, a religious icon of Rio, which has a privileged positioned on top of a great stone and is renowned for the 382 step ascent to reach it. It is located in the neighborhood of Penha, and offers great potential for religious tourism. Annually, in the month of October, it stages the Feast of the Patron of the Rock, with a diverse program of masses, processions, fireworks, ringing bells, cultural attractions, shows, food stalls, drinks, games and an amusement park.
