Presented by the  Red de Revistas Científicas de América Latina, el Caribe, España y Portugal, the study 'Recrear, instruir e advogar os interesses': posicionamentos sobre o futebol na Gazeta Suburbana e no Bangú-Jornal (1918-1920) - 'Create, educate and advocate interests': Football fixtures in the Gazeta Suburbana and the Bangú-Jornal (1918-1920), by Nei Jorge Santos Junior e Victor Andrade Melo, aims to discuss the football fixtures in two suburban periodicals of Rio de Janeiro: Gazeta Suburbana and Bangú- Jornal. It takes as its timeframe the years 1918-1920 - a period of heightened tension on the Rio football field, most notably between the most trafficked players in clubs from two important leagues: the Suburban and the Metropolitan. We believe that this investigation can expand our understanding of the sport by examining the views of those who defended the interests of a peripheral region of the city.
