Small mortalities in limited areas have been common for many years in the Lagoa de Jacarepaguá; yet, the very first took place in 1956. This great phenomenon of the brutal destruction of fauna, which is taking place regularly and annually, now for the 4th time, must have been caused by a fundamental change of conditions.
