Sporting recreations thrive at the Centro Esportivo Miécimo da Silva, or the 'Miécimo da Silva Sporting Complex', which was inaugurated in 1982 and is the largest sports complex of any municipal government in Brazil. The area is also peppered by an impressive number of lush, green spaces, including forests, and a great diversity of parks, as well as the important Parque Municipal da Serra do Mendanha, or 'Municipal Park of Serra do Mendanha, which offers trails through the Atlantic Forest, natural pools, waterfalls and volcanic remains.
