Presented by the Comitê Comunitário de Cidade de Deus, representantes da FENASEG, FETRANSPOR da FECOMÉRCIO-RJ, do SEBRAE/RJ e da LAMSA e profissionais dedicados à redução das desigualdades sócioespaciais, the study A Cidade de Deus: 38 anos de história - Cidade de Deus: 38 years of history, describes the process which culminated in the creation of a plan for the community development of Cidade de Deus - a process first started in 2003 - and present the plan itself, which was based on information available to the Comitê Comunitário de Cidade de Deus (Community Committee of Cidade de Deus). The intention of the paper is to: describe an experience which demonstrates the potential for living together with differences, by overcoming them and co-operating for the development of projects which would benefit the community; as well as to obtain partners to transform Cidade de Deus into a place where everyone can enjoy tranquility and satisfaction in life and in raising children.
