at a glance

Butterflies observed visiting flowers of L. fucata were Mechanitis polymnia Bates, P. ascanius Cramer and Mimoides lysithous harrisianus Swainson. Of these, P. ascanius stood out as an effective pollinator because of the number of visits to flowers throughout the whole year. This study highlights the mutual relationship between L. fucata and P. ascanius established in the supply of nectar as a food resource to the butterfly, which is responsible for pollinating the flowers and for the formation of fruits and seeds. arrow-back      arrow-forward
