at a glance

the Isadora sub-neighborhood is located in the vast area covered by the campo grande neighborhood in the zona oeste (west zone) of rio de janeiro.

Significant urbanization efforts only took place in the Campo Grande region in the 20th century. The great technological advances in mass transportation which came at the turn of the century, influenced people to relocate to previously remote regions of Rio de Janeiro, which particularly benefitted the West Zone of the city.

Urban development included the expansion of existing roads and construction of new ones. Estrada da Posse, or 'Possession Road', has since become one of the main transport arteries in the region, located south of Avenida Brasil, or 'Brazil Avenue', and north of a small ridge made of Morro das Paineiras, 'Paineiras Hill', and Morro da Posse, 'Posse Hill'. It terminates at West Shopping, a large shopping mall which has stimulated growth in the region significantly in recent years.
