at a glance

by the 19th century the region was dominated by the  inhoaíba ranch, and transversed by an important access, the santa cruz royal road. this avenue would eventually be renamed to its current designation of cesário de melo avenue.

with the dawn of the 20th century arrived the mangaratiba railroad, now called santa cruz. this was an important, not only for the development of the region and related access lanes, but also to the further establishment of the region's name, as the railroad station was baptized inhoaíba. the region experienced the most significant changes at the 1970s, when the first urbanizations started to take form.

arguably the most famous organization operating from this neighborhood is the ana gonzaga methodist institute, which is dedicated to the care of disadvantaged children. the bulk of the installations belonging to the state academic center of the west zone are also located within inhoaíba. arrow-back      arrow-forward
