After the first years of tv, for which Chateaubriand was heavily responsible, tv distanced itself from radio as a medium of communication developing its own language in connection with brazilian culture. the first television network of latin america (and the fifth in the world), called tv tupi, was founded by him in september 18th, 1950. Located on Channel 6, TV Tupi Rio was the only station in the city until 1955 and the dominant station until the late 1960s. As was common for many television stations at the time, budgets were small and equipment were brought from the united states, where they were produced at the time. by 1956, brazil already had a surprising 1,5 million tv sets. |
