the surrounding insular body, created by the eight islands that formed the University Island, established by the Ponta do Galeăo, Maré area and Ponta do Cajú, also endured substantial modifications which exerted added pressures on the insular complex. This research demonstrates, as a preliminary analysis, the occupation process of the surroundings, showing through cartographic, geographical and historical studies, the evolution of the occupation. The analysis of maps from several periods show the evolution of antropic occupation. Starting from the early maps from 1560 and from 1778, with the first astronomical map of the Baia de Guanabara, and continuing to the use of high resolution images, it is possible to draw a detailed cadastral x-ray of the area in study. |
