The Master Plan UFRJ - 2020 was born as a result of the sustained expansion of courses, particularly post-graduate, and as a product of the concrete stimuli of democratized access. 

to account for the planned increase in the number of places offered by UFRJ and, at the same time, in order to redress distortions which have taken place since our foundation, the Master Plan will have three main directional axes: double integration: internal and external (to the city of Rio de Janeiro, to the State and to the country); integrated administration of the spaces and buildings and long term plans, to come to fruition in 2020, with two intermediary moments: 2012 and 2016.

'In summary, we are engaged in the creation of a stimulating academic environment. The Master Plan UFRJ represents above all a concrete opportunity to show, in a planned and organized way, to the UFRJ community, and to society, the transformation and changes that will bring us closer to the future and to the expectations of us held by students, professors and, above all, those who finance and serve a public university like ours: the Brazilian people.
