jardim américa is a neighborhood located in the north zone - zona norte - of rio de janeiro. the bairro -neighborhood - is bordered by acari, parque colúmbia and irajá; parada de lucas, pavuna and vigário geral.

the neighborhood's name and its origins are connected to the projeto de arruamento e loteamento (pal) proletário, a street and property allotment project by the same name in the late 1950s. the project land was located next to the presidente dutra rodovia - president dutra highway. the rio acari- acaririver and the estrada vigário geral - vicar general road - also made up the new development's borders.

the development of jardim américa - american garden - included residential, commercial and industrial lots. furthermore there are close to forty public parks in the neighborhood to meet the recreational needs of the residents and visitors. in addition there are several public squares, which feature playgrounds, soccer fields and several vegetable or, hobby gardens. arrow-back      arrow-forward
