Founded in 1981, Barra Shopping is the largest center of trade in the country, containing more than 700 stores in an area that covers 1.2km. The architectural design of the buildings is highly contemporary, boasting wide corridors, natural lighting and pleasant landscaped gardens - It contains a bowling rink, as well as two medical centers, with more than 50 specialist clinics.

The New York City Center, a modern complex incorporated into Barra Shopping in 2003, contains national and international restaurants, department stores and a vast cinema with 18 rooms, including IMAX and luxurious Lux UCI screens.
